New UK Number 1!!

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Remember Gnarls Barkley – the band behind 2006 hit ‘Crazy’?  Well the band’s amazing singer/rapper/songwriter – Cee-Lo Green has returned with an astonishing new song.

US soul star Cee Lo Green has beaten Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow to number one in the charts.  Robbie and Gary’s single ‘Shame’, entered at number two.

” Forget You” is the latest single recorded by artist Cee Lo Green who has premiered a music video for his hilarious new song.  The radio edit of the song is called “Forget You”, which is the first single off his upcoming album entitled “The Lady Killer”.

If you’ve already seen the video, which became an instant hit when Cee Lo uploaded it to YouTube a few weeks back, you’ll know some of the lyrics are a little bit rude.  Rudeness aside it is a truly fantasic song – swearing or no swearing it still one of the best tune’s of the year.   And the album promises more of the same.

If you have not already heard it, then it is a must.  It is basically telling someone to get out of your face, when you really cannot bear to be around them and the best way from Cee Lo’s point of view is to unleash every swear word you can muster!!   The profanity’s have, of course,  been replaced for the radio but the meaning and intention is still there!!!  The singer has reportedly said that the track was inspired by a relationship break-up.

The Lady Killer – also features collaborators including producer Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse / Jurassic 5 / Fugees) and Fraser T. Smith (Adele, Nelly Furtado, Taio Cruz).
Cee Lo Green enjoyed huge success with Gnarls Barkley and the duo already have 7 million single and 3.5 million album sales to their credit and looks set to top that!!

No doubt over the next couple of weeks and months this is going to be a heavily requested track at all our parties and events!!

Alexandra Storms The UK Chart

Monday, September 13th, 2010

21 year old Islington pop diva and X Factor winner Alexandra Burke has finally proved she is destined for pop super stardom as she entered this weeks UK chart at number 1 with her sensational new single Start Without You.

The single features American urban singer Laza Morgan and is Alexandra’s 3rd own UK number 1 – previous number ones were Hallelujah in 2008 and Bad Boys (ft. Flo Rida) in 2009. Miss Burke has also had top spot successes with the X Factor 2008 finalists when she sang on the single Hero and again in 2010 when she featured on the Helping Haiti version of REM’s Everybody Hurts.

When you consider Alexandra started singing at the tender age of five, it’s no wonder she is fast becoming one of the UK’s hottest and most talented female pop stars. Daughter of Jamaican born David Burke and British born Melissa Bell, who herself was a former member of Soul group Soul II Soul, prior to the X Factor Alexandra had no professional vocal training.

Before her X Factor fame, Alex’s singing career consisted of gigging at clubs over the weekend. In 2005 she auditioned for the second series of X Factor and after being mentored by Louis Walsh within the ‘16-24 year old’ category, she made it through to the final 7. Walsh did not choose her for his final 4 as he felt Alex was too young for the competition. Shane Ward eventually went on to win the competition.

Fast forward to 2008 and Alexandra is back at X Factor with her sights firmly fixed on winning. This time after being placed in the ‘Girls’ category and under the win of another pop Princess, ex Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole, Alexandra shined. After a nail biting competition Alex made it through to the grand final where she found herself competing against another group that has since found success and fame – JLS.

After 8 million votes cast and a majority win of 58% of the votes Alexandra Imelda Cecelia Ewan Burke was finally crowned 2008 X-Factor champion. The song chosen for her to sing was Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah which was to become her first single and that year’s Christmas number 1 after selling 1 million copies.

Since those early X factor days Alex’s feet have hardly touched the ground with a string of hits and her debut album Overcome which went straight to number 1 in the UK album chart. With her All Night Long UK tour kicking off in January next year, it seems we will be seeing much more of Alex the pop superstar. We can’t wait!

Dizzee Rascal and James Corden have brought David Guetta’s place at the top of the UK music charts to an abrupt end.

‘Shout For England’went straight into the number 1 spot on Sunday, which is not surprising considering Simon Cowell is the mastermind behind the song.

Unfortunately, there is no video for Shout For England as yet, so instead we thought we would share with you a World Cup classic. Come on England!!!
