Take That Fever is About to Go into Overdrive

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Hold the front page people.  Robbie Williams and Take That have finally confirmed that they are back together to record and release a new album.  It is the first time all five members have worked together since Williams quit 15 years ago.  All five singers have written the songs for the record, due out in November.

Robbie said he was “embarrassingly excited” and reuniting with his former group felt like “coming home” while bandmate Mark Owen added that it “feels like a dream”.

Owen said: “Getting the five of us to be in a room together, although always a dream, never actually seemed like becoming a reality. Now the reality of the five of us making a record together feels like a dream. It’s been an absolute delight spending time with Rob again. But I’m still a better footballer.”

Jason Orange said it was “absolutely brilliant,” adding, “I’m over the moon that Robbie’s back with us, however long it lasts. I just want to enjoy our time with him. Life is beautifully strange sometimes.”

The reunion took place in New York last September, following Take That’s The Circus Live tour.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I was a huuuuuuge TT fan when I were a young lad and it was their fault that I spent the best part of my twenties trying to emulate them.  Instead of getting a stable career to build a future on I auditioned and became part of three different pop bands in a vain attempt to hit the dizzy heights of pop stardom.  If I could have another crack at it, even at the age of 34 I would jump at the chance so Robbie’s excitement comes as no surprise to me.

Good on you lads.  It’s been a long time coming but I’m glad you finally made.

Mmmm….sounds like the beginning of a song that, maybe it’s not too late.

JL Blessed

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Jay-Z is allegedly planning to launch JLS in America, after nicknaming the foursome JL Blessed.’

The U.S. rap star is said to be keen to help the X Factor boyband crack the US after he kept hearing the boys current number one single, The Club Is Alive at an event he was hosting in Dublin.

An insider is said to have been quoted saying “Jay was hosting an intimate World Cup soiree, backstage at Dublin’s Oxegen Festival with his crew and rapper Memphis Bleek.  He was heard telling pals how much he digs JLS’ jack-the-lad swing and how it reminded him of a modern day Boyz II Men and Jodeci. JLS’ song was playing backstage a lot over the weekend and he got excited about them.”

He obviously knows good talent when he hears it, and is not beating around the bush on getting things kickstarted with them Stateside.

It’s good to see British acts making a splash once more in the U.S.  It’s just a shame that most of them have to go down the X Factor route to get there.  First Leona Lewis, then Alexandra Burke with Flo-Rida and now JLS.  What’s next?  Jedward with a number one across the pond.

In other JLS news, the guys are preparing for there first arena tour and are said to be in conversation with illusionist David Blaine about incorporating some illusions into their show and are keen for him to come up with the creative work on it as they’re huge fans of his. As it’s their first arena tour, JLS want to go all out and make it special for their fans.

As I was a follower of JLS throughout their run on the X Factor (they should obviously have won) it’s good to see them doing so well, as I predicted they would.  No modesty to be found here ladies and gents.  I just tell it like it is.

Cheryl’s A U.S. Star In Waiting

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

R&B sensation Ne-Yo has been quoted this week as saying that he’s been speaking to Cheryl Cole about a musical collaboration.

Cheryl is currently ill with malaria and has cancelled her appearance at V Festival, but it has been widely reported that she’ll attempt to break the US market at some point later this year.  Ne-Yo believes he could be the songwriter to help her pen a hit record?  He said: ‘We’ve been talking about doing some stuff together.  Although nothing has happened so far Cheryl is definitely on the list.’

On the list….?  On the list….?

Fact:  Cheryl Cole is by far the biggest star on planet pop in the UK and her transition from pop princess to world dominating pop sensation is but a U.S. release away.

Fact:  It doesn’t matter who it is that she collaborates with it’s a sure-fire hit.

Me-thinks that it’s Ne-Yo on Cheryl’s list and not vice-versa.

You heard it here first guys so when she gets that hit across the pond and the stars of U.S. are all clamouring to be associated with her, I’ll be writing my next blog with a big smug smile on face.

HIT SHOW GLEE NOMINATED FOR 19 AWARDS AT THIS YEAR’S EMMYS

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Hit US TV show ‘Glee’ has been nominated for a whopping 19 Emmy Awards.

The series, which hit British screens earlier this year, features Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch amongst its stellar cast and is even going toe-to-toe with comedy heavyweights 30 Rock and Friday Night Live in a bid to claim the coveted Best Comedy prize.

If successful, the show could end 30 Rock’s three-year reign as America’s favourite comedy show as the two series’ go head-to-head against Curb Your Enthusiasm, Modern Family, Nurse Jackie and The Office.

Morrison and Lea, who plays Rachel Berry were also nominated for best actor in a leading role and best actress in a leading role, respectively, for their contribution to the hit show while gritty World War II drama ‘The Pacific’ received the most nominations overall after being put forward for a cool 24 awards.

Heart Attack Scare For Aussie Star Andre

Monday, July 12th, 2010

It had been reported that Peter Andre was having a heart attack after collapsing yesterday.

Jordan’s ex is said to have been out jogging at 5.30 am near his house in West Sussex when he was suddenly struck down by a ‘bolt of pain’ and then fell awkwardly to the ground in agony.

An eyewitness told reporters that he rushed to the singer’s aid and helped him back into his home where Pete’s brother Mike called an ambulance.

All fears that he was suffering a heart attack have been quashed by medics, however, who stated that the sudden pain was due to hidden injuries to his chest and not the suspected cardiac arrest.

The singer has had to cancel most of his up-coming work commitments including a book signing in Dublin.

A statement on Andre’s official website claimed: “Following Peter being taken ill yesterday, he will continue to undertake his work commitments as normally as he can, but he has been advised not to fly for a few days and therefore we sadly have to cancel the signing at Easons in Dublin this Saturday.”

“Peter is very sorry to have to cancel, but he will reschedule as soon as possible.”

LaToya Claims Michael Jackson was murdered

Monday, June 28th, 2010

LaToya Jackson has demanded “the truth” after claiming her brother Michael was murdered because he was “worth so much more dead than alive”.

It has been a year since Jackson’s suspicious death. Since then some sources have estimated the Jackson estate has earned over $1 billion (approx. £677 million).

Speaking during a TV interview, the singer said: “He was murdered for his catalogue and they knew that” and that his death was “no accident.”

Asked in a GMTV interview whether she believed her brother was murdered, she added: “I never had a doubt. You must remember from the day that I found out that Michael was no longer with us, when my mother screamed ‘he’s dead’ on the phone, I just went into this, ‘Who did it?”

LaToya Jackson

Michael Jackson’s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray is currently awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

The King of Pop’s brother Jermaine Jackson has also spoke out on the anniversary of Michael’s death claiming that had Jackson converted to Islam it might have saved his life. “I felt that if Michael would have embraced Islam he would still be here today,” the former Jackson 5 member told the BBC World Service. He continued to say the entire Jackson family have found the past year ‘tough’ and that “we’ll never get over it.”

Jermaine Jackson

Jermaine went on to question why Michael is receiving so much positive attention now, when before his death many saw him as a bit of a joke. “The love that they are giving my brother now he is dead is the love they should have shown him when he was alive.”

Meanwhile, fans will be allowed to leave flowers on an outdoor terrace near the singer’s burial site to mark the anniversary but that balloons, candles and doves will not be permitted, the Los Angeles Forest Lawn cemetery have confirmed.

It’s Official! Cheryl Cole Is Divorcing Ashley!

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

X-factor judge and pop-star Cherly Cole has now officially filed divorce papers at the High Court in London following months of deliberation.

It is expected Cherly will be requesting a quick divorce before Ashley plays his first World Cup match for England on the 12th June against USA. It is believed Cheryl will not be asking for any of Ashley’s money, nor fighting for the couple’s £6 million mansion in Surrey.

Chezza has insisted she wants a ‘clean break’ from the Chelsea player to avoid disctracting him from his England duties at the tournament in South Africa.

A close source told a UK newspaper: “Cheryl made a swift decision to put England’s World Cup dreams ahead of herself. The divorce should be finalised before England’s first touch of the ball in South Africa on June 12.”

“She wants a completely clean break with no malice or wrangling over property or money. Cheryl will not take one penny of Ashley’s money.”

The source added: “The house means nothing to her. She only moved there because it was important for them to be near Ashley’s training ground. Cheryl is giving the house to him.”

The Girls Aloud star has cited ‘unreasonable behaviour’ as the reason for the marriage split. Since the couple’s seperation, Cherly has been romantically linked to Black Eyed Peas star Will.I.Am.

The Coles are both alleged to be worth around £10 million each and neither signed a prenuptial agreement when they married four years ago. An insider close to Cheryl claimed the Fight For This Love star had ‘no spite’ towards her estranged husband and that the divorce will be ‘clean, swift and amicable’.

Gorrilaz Play Their Only UK Gig At Glastonbury Next Month

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

It’s confirmed, Gorrilaz will replace rock legends U2 as Friday headliners at Glastonbury next month. U2 pulled out earlier this week after singer Bono injured his back.

After speculation that artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Led Zeppelin and Coldplay could fill the slot, it’s Damon Albarn’s cartoon collective that will be this year’s main attraction.

Mos Def, Kano, Shaun Ryder and De La Soul should all make appearances alongside the group.

Gorillaz made their live comeback at the Coachella festival, California followed by two shows at the Roundhouse, London.

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis said: “This is going to be Gorilllaz’ only UK festival appearance, and it’ll be a massive audio visual spectacle which will really ignite the Pyramid on the Friday night, with Muse, then Stevie Wonder to follow.”

“I’m very excited about Gorillaz’ show coming here because they’re so open to guests and collaborations.., I am so grateful for the enthusiasm of the media and the whole of the music industry for their willingness and eagerness to support us in what could have been a crisis.”

Albarn is no stranger to headlining at Glatso – last year he performed with his reformed first band Blur.
